SUMMARY:Minnesota Renaissance Festival 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Minnesota Renaissance Festival opens its 55th season on Saturday\, August 22 and runs every Saturday and Sunday through October 4\, plus Labor Day Monday (September 7) and Festival Friday (October 2). Gates are open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.\, rain or shine\, at 12364 Chestnut Blvd in Shakopee\, a short drive from Prior Lake. \nThe village has 16 stages of entertainment\, jousting\, more than 250 artisan shops\, 500-plus food and drink choices\, and 50-plus games and rides. New this year: free celebration ribbons at the King’s Gate information booth\, a Wicked Wand Workshop for kids\, a Viking Invasion arena game and a Ninja Warrior course. \nThemed weekends: Once Upon a Time (Aug 22-23\, when kids 5 to 12 get in free with an adult ticket bought at the box office)\, Highland Fling (Aug 29-30)\, Woofstock (Sept 5-7\, the dog weekend)\, Bold North Adventure (Sept 12-13\, with Sign Language Saturday on the 12th)\, Wine\, Chocolate and Romance (Sept 19-20)\, Art Affair (Sept 26-27)\, Festival Friday (Oct 2) and Oktoberfest (Oct 3-4). \nTickets at the gate are $29.95 for adults\, $27.95 for seniors 65 and up and $19.95 for kids 5 to 12; buy in advance online and it is $26.95\, $24.95 and $16.95. Kids 4 and under are free all season\, and weekend and season passes are available. Parking on the grounds requires a date-specific pass ($15 in advance\, $30 same-day if space is left) and the festival recommends its Park and Ride lots instead. SUMMARY:ValleyScare at Valleyfair
DESCRIPTION:ValleyScare returns to Valleyfair on Friday and Saturday nights\, September 19 through October 31\, 7 p.m. to midnight. After dark the park up the road in Shakopee becomes a haunted playground: five indoor haunted mazes\, scare zones along the midways\, Halloween-themed live shows\, and the big coasters running in the dark. \nThe five mazes are Berserkers: Valkyries’ Vengeance (undead Vikings among Norse ruins)\, Cryptidland (a roadside attraction where the legends turn out to be real)\, Mr. Cleaver’s Bloodshed (a slaughterhouse)\, The Chateau: 7 Deadly Scares (a haunted manor built around the seven deadly sins) and Undertakers (a mortuary whose residents refuse to stay buried). Scare zones include Signal Zero\, Hemlock’s Coven\, Blood on the Boundary Waters and CarnEVIL: Midway of Mayhem\, with shows like Hell on Wheels and Dragons Fire Theater on the stages in between. \nValleyScare is a separately ticketed nighttime event. Tickets are $49.99 online ($89 at the gate) with all five mazes and parking included\, and it is covered by eligible season passes; a 2027 pass bought now includes the rest of this season. Everyone 3 and up needs a ticket\, a chaperone policy applies\, there is no re-entry\, and masks\, face paint and costumes are not allowed. It is intense and not meant for young kids. Families can do Tricks and Treats\, the daytime version\, on weekends September 26 through November 1\, and a combo ticket covers both on the same Saturday. SUMMARY:2026 Pleasant Street Art Walk
DESCRIPTION:The 8th annual Pleasant Street Art Walk returns to downtown Prior Lake on Saturday\, September 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The street closes to traffic for the day\, turning Pleasant Street SE into an outdoor showcase of more than 70 local and regional artists\, performers\, and specialty food vendors. The event is family-friendly. \nFounded by Andrea Mullenmeister of ANM Pottery\, the Art Walk began as a small neighborhood collaboration with artists setting up booths in front yards along the street. The following year the street was closed to traffic\, and the event has grown into a Prior Lake fall tradition. Andrea describes it as “a grassroots celebration of art\, community\, and creativity highlighting the joyful and welcoming camaraderie that defines our Pleasant Street neighborhood.” \nPleasant Street is the oldest neighborhood in Prior Lake. The first house on the block was built in 1895\, and a pair of 1920 Sears Catalog homes still stand at the east end. In 2011\, neighbors organized to defeat a development proposal that would have rerouted Highway 21 through the street and demolished most of these historic homes.
