SUMMARY:ValleyScare at Valleyfair
DESCRIPTION:ValleyScare returns to Valleyfair on Friday and Saturday nights\, September 19 through October 31: Fridays 7 p.m. to midnight\, Saturdays 5:30 p.m. to midnight\, starting right after Tricks and Treats closes and the park clears for the switch. On Saturdays\, 5:30 is when the gates open (Valleyfair lists them as the Route 76 gates). The opening show\, The Awakening\, is at 6:50 p.m. on the Superior Stage\, and ValleyScare itself runs 7 p.m. to midnight. After dark the park up the road in Shakopee becomes a haunted playground: five indoor haunted mazes\, scare zones along the midways\, Halloween-themed live shows\, and the big coasters running in the dark. \nThe five mazes are Berserkers: Valkyries’ Vengeance (undead Vikings among Norse ruins)\, Cryptidland (a roadside attraction where the legends turn out to be real)\, Mr. Cleaver’s Bloodshed (a slaughterhouse)\, The Chateau: 7 Deadly Scares (a haunted manor built around the seven deadly sins) and Undertakers (a mortuary whose residents refuse to stay buried). Scare zones include Signal Zero\, Hemlock’s Coven\, Blood on the Boundary Waters and CarnEVIL: Midway of Mayhem\, with shows like Hell on Wheels and Dragons Fire Theater on the stages in between. \nValleyScare is a separately ticketed nighttime event. Tickets are $49.99 online ($89 at the gate) with all five mazes and parking included\, and it is covered by eligible season passes; a 2027 pass bought now includes the rest of this season. On College ID Nights (Fridays through October 16)\, students with a valid college ID pay $29.99 plus tax at the ticket window. Everyone 3 and up needs a ticket\, a chaperone policy applies\, there is no re-entry\, and masks\, face paint and costumes are not allowed. It is intense and not meant for young kids. Families can do Tricks and Treats\, the daytime version\, on weekends September 26 through November 1\, and a combo ticket covers both on the same Saturday. Dates\, tickets and policies are on Valleyfair’s ValleyScare page.

SUMMARY:Much Ado About Nothing – Prior Lake Players
DESCRIPTION:The Prior Lake Players stage Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing at Twin Oaks Middle School\, 15860 Fish Point Rd in Prior Lake. There are five performances: Friday\, October 23 and Saturday\, October 24\, then Thursday through Saturday\, October 29\, 30 and 31. Every show starts at 7 p.m. \nThis production takes the comedy into the world of reality TV. The Players bill it as “A Shakespearean Reality Check”: at an ivy-covered East Coast estate\, two couples get caught up in romance\, gossip and schemes\, in the spirit of The Real Housewives and Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The estate becomes a reality-TV set where the cameras are always rolling\, and the story moves from the couches in “The Study” to the confessional and on into the monitor and control rooms\, where it keeps going behind the cameras. Live camera feeds put the action on screen as it plays out on stage\, so nobody misses a side-eye or a confessional. It’s still the story of Beatrice and Benedick’s war of wits and the whirlwind romance between Claudio and Hero. Anna Kral directs. \nTickets are $24\, or $21 for students and seniors\, and seating is assigned. Buy tickets online up to two hours before each show. Any seats left are sold at the door. To promote the show\, the cast made Ado Island\, a reality-TV-style series that premiered Oct. 14\, with new episodes on the Players’ social media every Monday\, Wednesday and Friday at 10 a.m. through the run. More about the production is on the Players’ website. The Prior Lake Players are the community theater group behind last spring’s Shrek the Musical.
