Night to Unite

Night to Unite is the one evening a year when Prior Lake deliberately turns into a few hundred small parties. Neighborhoods across the city host potlucks, BBQs, and ice cream socials, and city staff make the rounds from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. — registered parties get a visit from a squad car, a fire engine, or a plow truck, and often an officer, a firefighter, a council member, or the Mayor along with it. Party organizers receive an email before the 4th with their visit time.

Registration for 2026 closed on July 26, so if your street didn’t sign up this year, put it on the calendar for next summer — and you can still wander over to a neighbor’s gathering; that is rather the point of the whole thing.

One thing everyone can do, party or not: this year’s donation drive supports Southern Valley Alliance, which serves survivors of domestic abuse in Scott and Carver counties. Needed items include household cleaning products, personal care items, and gift cards (gas, food, rideshare, Amazon). Drop donations at the Prior Lake Police Department August 3–12, or hand gift cards to city staff during a party visit.
