Chick-fil-A opens Oct. 8 where Shakopee’s Best Buy used to be
Chick-fil-A opens its first Shakopee restaurant Thursday, Oct. 8, on the lot where Best Buy used to be, at 8100 Old Carriage Ct. along County Highway 21. The company announced the date Monday, Sept. 28. The restaurant will be open Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., with dine-in, a drive-thru, carry-out, delivery and an indoor playground. It brings about 80 jobs, the company says, and is run by local owner-operator Brad Peterson.
The City Council approved the plat for the site 5-0 on Feb. 17. It splits the 4.43-acre property in two: 3.20 acres on the south side for the 5,200-square-foot restaurant, and a 1.23-acre lot on the north side for a second business, not named in the city’s staff report.
The roads at the restaurant’s corner are new too. The city finished its Old Carriage Court project Sept. 29, ahead of its Oct. 31 deadline: a roundabout where Old Carriage Court meets Old Carriage Road, and a traffic signal at the Walmart entrance. Traffic studies for the restaurant found that signal was warranted, and Chick-fil-A agreed to pay the city $300,000 for it.
On opening day, anyone dressed in cow print, from a full costume to a cow-spotted accessory, gets one free entrΓ©e or kid’s meal, inside or at the drive-thru, one per person, while supplies last.
What's next: Chick-fil-A Shakopee opens Thursday, Oct. 8.
