Savage named Minnesota’s American World War II Heritage City

The National Park Service on Friday, Oct. 16, named Savage one of 10 American World War II Heritage Cities for 2026. The designation recognizes Camp Savage, where Japanese American military intelligence specialists trained for operations in the Pacific, and the nearby shipbuilding and precision manufacturing that employed thousands of workers, including women. The program allows only one city or local jurisdiction in each state.
