ValleyScare at Valleyfair

ValleyScare, Valleyfair’s after-dark Halloween event, runs Friday and Saturday nights through October 31 in Shakopee. Two weekends are left, October 23 and 24 and October 30 and 31, and it is open on Halloween night, the last night of the season. Fridays run 7 p.m. to midnight. Saturdays run 5:30 p.m. to midnight: the park clears when Tricks and Treats closes at 5:30, ValleyScare ticket holders come back in through the Steel Venom gates (Route 76), and the opening show, The Awakening, is at 6:50 p.m. on the Superior Stage.

Tickets

• ValleyScare tickets are $76.99 online for Fridays and $79.99 for Saturdays, plus tax, or $89 at the gate. Parking and all five haunted mazes are included, and kids 2 and under are free.
• A Saturday combo ticket covers Tricks and Treats by day and ValleyScare at night, with parking: $99.99 online or $109 at the gate.
• Fridays, October 23 and 30, are College ID Nights: $29.99 plus tax at the ticket window with a college ID.
• Fright Lane is sold separately: $64.99 online for priority on select rides and one skip-the-line entry to each maze, or $94.99 for Fright Lane Plus, which makes the priority entry unlimited.
• A 2027 Hero Pass, $75.99 online until November 1, costs less than one ValleyScare ticket and covers the rest of this season, ValleyScare included, plus the 2027 season and free parking.

The five mazes are Berserkers Valkyries’ Vengeance (undead Vikings among Norse ruins), Cryptidland (a roadside attraction where the legends turn out to be real), Mr. Cleaver’s Bloodshed (a slaughterhouse), The Chateau: 7 Deadly Scares (a haunted manor built around the seven deadly sins) and Undertakers (a mortuary whose residents refuse to stay buried). Scare zones include Signal Zero, Hemlock’s Coven, Blood on the Boundary Waters and CarnEVIL: Midway of Mayhem, with shows like Hell on Wheels and Dragons Fire Theater in between, and the coasters run in the dark.

Before you go: ValleyScare is intense and not meant for young kids. Anyone 17 or younger needs a chaperone 21 or older, one adult for up to five, and IDs have to be the real card, not a photo. Bags must be clear and no bigger than 12 by 12 by 6 inches, or a small wristlet or clutch. Masks, face paint and costumes are not allowed, and there is no re-entry.
