Updated Oct. 6: The Savage City Council approved MnDOT's plan after the Oct. 5 public hearing, according to the meeting video.
The Savage City Council approved MnDOT’s plan to rebuild Highway 13 through Savage, with new bridges over Quentin and Huntington Avenues, on a voice vote after a public hearing Monday, Oct. 5, according to the meeting video.
The vote is the city’s municipal consent, which MnDOT describes as a city’s approval of its final layout for a state highway project when state law requires one. MnDOT’s project page lists construction from spring 2027 through fall 2030 and says the schedule could change based on funding.
The city describes the work as rebuilding two miles of Highway 13, building the two bridges, adding ramps, and building single-lane roundabouts at Quentin Avenue and 123rd Street and at Huntington Avenue. MnDOT’s layout also adds two ramp bridges over the Credit River and a westbound ramp from Highway 13 to Huntington Avenue and downtown Savage.
The full project runs from Quentin Avenue in Savage to Nicollet Avenue in Burnsville and includes the Lynn, Chowen and Washburn Avenue intersections. MnDOT’s design page says the Nicollet Avenue interchange is scheduled to begin in 2027, followed by the work between Quentin and Washburn Avenues.
