The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community’s annual Wacipi, one of the Midwest’s largest powwows, closes Sunday with the 1 p.m. grand entry, one last chance to see hundreds of dancers of all ages, representing dozens of tribes from across the United States and Canada, in the arena in full regalia.
Drum groups and singers surround the arena, and Native American artists and crafters display traditional beadwork, jewelry, and handmade goods alongside food vendors serving authentic meals and treats. Admission details and the full schedule are at smscwacipi.org.
Know before you go: the SMSC prohibits firearms, alcohol, and drugs on all properties. Service animals as defined by the ADA are welcome; pets are not permitted.
