Ponds Park phase two is finished, and Prior Lake has closed out the contract

The second phase of work at Ponds Park is complete, and the Prior Lake City Council approved the final payment to K.A. Witt Construction on the consent agenda, 5-0, on Tuesday, Aug. 25, according to the Aug. 25 minutes. The council awarded the contract for $1,076,942.90 on March 11, 2025, the staff report says, and all work has been completed in accordance with the contract.

Three change orders moved the price. The first added $28,849.24 for soil corrections, private utility repairs and other conditions found once work began. The second added $9,450 to expand the infields of fields 5 and 6 at the request of P.L.A.Y., which reimbursed the city for that cost. The third subtracted $3,170 for materials not used. The final payment of $25,989.33 brings the total paid to $1,112,072.14, 3.3% above the original contract, a net increase of $35,129.24, all of it from the parks capital and equipment fund.

HKGi, the city’s design and construction administration consultant on the project, reviewed the change orders and the final pay application and approved them, the staff report says.
