Prior Lake-Savage schools certify 2027 levy at the maximum, no home figure yet
The Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools board voted on a roll call Monday, Sept. 14, to certify the district’s proposed property tax levy for taxes payable in 2027 at the maximum amount, according to the meeting video. Neither the agenda nor the attached state printout gives a figure for what the levy means on an individual home. The agenda says certifying at the maximum amount allows anticipated changes, slight statewide adjustments and applicable referendum results to be incorporated in the proposed property tax notifications and the final certified levy, and it sets the Truth in Taxation hearing for Monday, Dec. 14, at 6 pm.
The levy limitation and certification printout from the state Department of Education, run Sept. 11, puts the district’s maximum levy limitation for taxes payable in 2027 at $36.24 million, before county auditor adjustments. That is up $580,630.32, or 1.63%, from a limitation of $35.66 million for taxes payable in 2026. A stamp across the printout says the report as of Sept. 11 will change before final.
By fund, the printout lists the general fund limitation at $18.36 million, up 1.70%; community service at $1,045,100.86, up 34.89% from $774,795.64; and general debt service at $16.84 million, up $3,606.96.
What's next: The Truth in Taxation hearing is set for the regular board meeting on Monday, Dec. 14, at 6 pm.
