Lakefront Park is Prior Lake's main city park, 5000 Kop Parkway SE, on the shore of Prior Lake a couple of blocks from downtown. It is where the town gathers: the amphitheater hill where Lakefront Music Fest and the Music in the Park nights happen, Watzl's Beach (a quarter-mile walk from the parking lots), a fishing dock, seasonal boat slips, canoe and kayak racks, picnic shelters and grills, an enclosed pavilion, a big playground, a skate park, tennis and basketball courts, soccer and football fields, and trails through the wooded and prairie parts of the park. In winter the hill is the sledding hill and the rinks flood for skating and hockey.

Most of the big community events on this site happen here: the Fourth of July fireworks launched from Watzl's Point, Lakefront Music Fest in July, Music in the Park, DecemBRRR Dazzle and the tree lighting in December, and the student council's Winter Fest. The Saturday farmers market is a couple of blocks away on Main Avenue.

The park is open daily 5 am to 10 pm. The city rents the pavilion, the open-air shelters, boat slips and rack space through its online catalog at secure.rec1.com; Parks and Recreation is 952-447-9820. Beer, cider and wine are allowed in the park and the shelters; hard liquor and glass are not.
