Downtown Prior Lake is the few blocks of Main Avenue SE between Highway 13 and the lake, and it is where most of the town's street-level life happens. It is small enough to walk end to end in five minutes and dense enough that you can fill an evening: dinner at PLate on Main or Perron's Sul Lago, a glass at Rhino Wine Bar, a pint at Boathouse Brothers Brewing (bingo Mondays, trivia Wednesdays, food trucks on the patio), a game on at YT's Garage, or the meat raffle at Extra Innings. Edelweiss Bakery covers the morning, Grace + Gumption covers the shopping, and Lakefront Park is two blocks toward the water.

The Prior Lake Farmers Market sets up on Main Avenue every Saturday morning, 8 am to noon, from early May into October, and it is the single biggest weekly gathering in town. The rest of the downtown calendar is seasonal: Chalk Fest in September, Prior Lake Days Family Day and the Sip and Stroll in summer, Small Business Saturday in November, and the Candy Crawl on Halloween, when the storefronts and City Hall hand out treats.
